A Bit About Me
How I came to this work
I was initially drawn to therapy through an interest in supporting children who didn’t always have the words or tools to understand what they were feeling. A few years into my career, I began working with adults and over time, found myself drawn in that direction. Since then, it has become the primary focus of my practice, alongside experience working with older adults - where I’ve seen that it’s never too late to begin therapy.
What I Value in This Work
Practical change, self-understanding, and compassion
Some of the most meaningful moments in this work are often the simplest - when someone arrives carrying a lot and leaves feeling even a bit more settled, or when they share that something we discussed helped in a real, practical way. Being part of that process is something I value deeply.
Perspective on Change
Shifting how you relate to what’s difficult
While we can’t always change our circumstances - or the people around us - we can develop a different relationship to how we respond. Setbacks are part of the process and deserve understanding rather than self-criticism. And while we can’t rewrite earlier chapters, we can begin to approach things differently and create new patterns going forward.
How I Work
Warm, practical, and down-to-earth
Sessions are conversational and reflective. I listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and help you slow things down enough to notice what’s happening underneath your thoughts and reactions. You don’t need to have perfect insight or the “right” words - we work things out together.
My approach strength-based and person-centred with attention to your values, capacities, and internal resources - not just what feels difficult or stuck. When helpful, we may also incorporate creative processes alongside conversation.
Focus of our Work
Insight and practical application
Therapy is active and intentional. We look at patterns that repeat in your thinking, emotional responses, relationships, and decision-making, and explore how they developed and why they make sense.
We also focus on applying what you’re learning so that it feels useful and relevant in your day-to-day life.
Flexible Approach
Adapting to what you need
Some people come to therapy looking for practical strategies and short-term support, while others want to explore deeper, long-standing patterns. Most move between the two over time.
I’m comfortable working in both ways, and we adjust the focus based on what feels most useful to you.
Working Together
Collaborative and grounded
You are the expert on your own life. I bring experience, perspective, and careful attention; you bring your lived experience and values.
When something stands out, I’ll name it thoughtfully and directly, and we decide together where to focus.
Professional Foundation
Integrative and individualized
I’m a Registered Psychotherapist and Registered Art Therapist with over 20 years of clinical experience. My approach is integrative and tailored to you, drawing from different modalities depending on what will be most useful and meaningful in your situation.
There’s no single formula - therapy is shaped around your needs, goals, and pace.
